Hi Guys,

I am currently working as a Manual Tester. I am little curious as my peers started to learn programming languages and are moving towards test automation.

What do you think will be a future of Manual Test and Manual Testing?

As software becomes more sophisticated and interconnected with our physical world, traditional approaches to testing will need to evolve. The tools, techniques, and approaches to testing must evolve. When dealing with smarter systems, tests are not as simple as an action and a known expectation. Sometimes the expectations won’t be known and it won’t be clear how systems will react in certain situations.

Testers will really need to explore and be extremely creative in their scenario generation to determine how these “smart” systems react. They’ll also need to be sensitive to what these reactions truly mean for customers. Customer will never accept the product without complete testing. As long as developers are developing projects we will be testing them either for new development or for some small changes. Testing will always be needed.

In my opinion, we need to upgrade ourselves. Automation Testing is also a mandatory technology for every manual test engineer but also we have to be more focus on our manual testing work and concepts. I think Future technology will bring more automation in the industry but we can not deny the fact that manual testing will always require for the successful project.

We can not say that manual testing has no future. It is not like that there are many projects and companies where lots of manual testers works. Also there is demand of good manual testers in the industry. Also without making a software build stable there is no use of automation and when yiu have to make a software build stable, you need to test it manually. Initially when you develop something it has to be manually tested(excep some cases of API testing). So you should not fear and I suggest you can start as manual tester and later you can gain knowledge of some programming language like java and any tool like selenium and can equipp yourself with all latest tools and technologies.
