The heightened privileges is similar to proxy injection. It will allow website to peform certain task which are not commonly permitted. The browsers are launched in a special mode. By using these browser modes, Selenium core can open the AUT activitity and read or write its content as well. It will not have to pass the whole Application Under Test through RC server.
Eg. filling the file upload input, changing CSS, etc..
