Fetching data from Excel to RFT

Question

I am newbie to RFT automation tool. I want to fecth data dynamically from excel sheet.
Can anyone thorw light on how this can be done?

Create your excel sheet, then Create a test data pool from the File menu and import your created data file. After that associate the file with your script and it will start picking data from your data source.

You can also use Apache POI, it has many APIs for this purpose.

I'm using IBM RFT Starter edition. How can I create a Java class to use it in the recorded scenario. And,, does the IBM RFT Trial version supports record and playback on Browser?
I tried, but it is showing error in the recording window. So, I moved to Starter edition. But, starter edition is not allowing to write custom Java in recorded Scenario.
