Which one is better to use selenium 2.53 or 3.7?

I am a Fresher, working in a start-up, I have completed a course on selenium 2.53 but the current version of selenium is 3.7 so which one I should use?

Going for the latest version will always be helpful.

Also, the version what you are trained with and the current version does not have much difference with commands. The latest version has bug fixes and it's more friendly with the mobile automation.
