how to use cp to copy directory in Mac machine?

I tried using

cp <source-directory> <name-of-destination-directory>


But it throws an error that <source-directory> is not a file and its not allowing me to copy the same.

You can use


cp -Rvf <source-directory> <name-of-destination-directory>



-R is recursive

-v is verbose

-f is force
