16 years is a long tenure of the career where people get almost every knowledge (Not experience but knowledge) of his field.
Sometime it happens people do not get chance to work on different part of his job, that means he worked on limited area but he might be a master or expert of whatever he did till 16 years. If you feel you are not getting job in Automation, do not worry you need to think beyond the limit.
Sharpen your automation skill, and Apply for Lead and Manager position, you have a strong manual experience, you must know how to handle team, how to deal with customers, how to design testing framework methodology and test plan, Use these skills and try to get experience and apply on it.
Moreover, try to get PMP and CSM kind of certifications, scrum master is also good role now a days to facilitate agile team.
Do not try everything just focus on one thing to learn and get experience in it, the rest you will understand and learn automatically. ex. selenium.
